Re: Strong Style Spirit - New Japan catch all thread

I think the final is probably Jay White's best match. Loved it and I thought the Gedo spot worked for that moment. It's been a phenomenal tour with dozens of matches that are up there with the best of the year, although I don't think anything reached the insane heights of the BOSJ final. my favourit...

Re: Strong Style Spirit - New Japan catch all thread

Shingo/ Goto was absolutely great stuff, it's another one that, were it not for the context of the G1, would be getting a lot more buzz as being a must watch. It's crazy that Shingo and Will both went from being shining stars of the BOSJ tournament to being borderline the two shining stars coming ou...

Re: WWE NXT 2019 (A-show schedule in OP)

I'm not as high as some others on the main event but I thought this was top to bottom the best WWE produced show in years and years. The last few Takeover's have been getting up there in terms of quality but the main event's haven't been too hot. This main event was really great in spite of a few qu...

Re: Strong Style Spirit - New Japan catch all thread

I thought today's match was Okada and Omega's best since the dome and really did a wonderful job of calling back to not only their previous matches but also in each man's rise to the top and path to this point, it really made the change feel truly historic. Not only that but I really loved the struc...

Re: Strong Style Spirit - New Japan catch all thread

Kudos to the main page for bringing to my attention Zack's name for that move, "Orienteering with Napalm Death", which is a reference to leftwing stand up (and personal favourite) comedian Stewart Lee. And in the same week as Lees former double act partner Richard Herring ran into Will Ospreay on T...

Re: Strong Style Spirit - New Japan catch all thread

I thought the Ishii/ Elgin match was very good bordering great but my main gripe (Other than the near death on top rope Razor's Edge) was that both one count kick outs were so obvious a million miles away and felt unearned and maybe a little unnecessary, Ishii is normally so good at getting these at...

Re: Revolution Pro Wrestling

Lee/ Ishii ****1/2 Ospreay/ Zack ****3/4 As has been said I think Sabre and Will was actually the slightly better match they have always worked so well together but this was like the textbook example of knowing each other so well you can try basically anything with them and you know where they will ...

Re: Strong Style Spirit - New Japan catch all thread

Jay White/ Tanahashi and Jericho/ Omega are certainly two of the more curious left field Wrestle Kingdom match ups in a while. I've enjoyed a lot of White in ROH over the last year but primarily thanks to guys working around him exceptionally well, I hope he brings it for what is a huge leap of fait...

Re: NOAH - Who is NOAH's savior??

Holy hell Marufuji and Edwards had an absolutely great match, just beat the crap out of each other. It's a shame this crowd didn't wake up until the very end because it was ridiculous. I have no idea who decided to do that Tope spot but I jumped out my seat. Looking back on this year's NOAH title ma...

Re: Strong Style Spirit - New Japan catch all thread

I'm still working through some of the non title matches on the card but whatI have seen so far has all been excellent, so far I have: Funky Futures V RPG 3K **** KUSHIDA V Will ****3/4 Naito V Ishii ****1/2 Okada V EVIL ****1/4 The crowd were excellent here too and seemed to be into everything from ...

Re: September 2017

Heya. Longtime lurker, first time poster. Probably not a MOTYC, but I had a good ol' time watching Daisuke Sekimoto/Kohei Satou v. Shingo Takagi/Yuki Okabayashi on the 9/20 Big Japan show. Second and absolutely a MOTYC for me and I'm normally not as high on the Okabayashi and Sekimoto style of tag ...

Re: NOAH - Who is NOAH's savior??

Nakajima and Kenoh kicked the shit out of each other for ten minutes on the 9.23 show, It probably wasn't as good as their match earlier in the year but is still worth a watch if you like watching lots of killer head kicks!

Re: Strong Style Spirit - New Japan catch all thread

I'm confused about when Tanahashi vs. Ibushi is going to happen. Meltzer apparently "confirmed" it is happening at KOPW, which makes no sense to me. I can't find the confirmation anywhere (NJPW's Japanese or English sites, STRIGGA, Charlton, etc.) so I am skeptical as I think that is a perfect Powe...

Re: WWE SummerSlam 2017 - August 20, 2017

So..your basic NJPW format of a show. Except if it was in NJPW no one would be complaining about the show  Because at Dominion (Probably the NJPW equivalent) you had a consensus opinion of three absolutely blow away singles matches a great tag and some solid stuff underneath. This on the o...

Re: WWE SummerSlam 2017 - August 20, 2017

The two tag matches were both great, AJ and Owens was good but with superfluous Shane nonsense, the main event will depend upon your mileage of what is basically the same multiman match we've seen in WWE title matches for years now... it was perfectly fine, the stretcher spot is contrived, hardly an...
