Burning Spirits heads back to the punishing world of Big Japan Pro Wrestling, covering the finals of the Saikyou Tag League. We then discuss the harrowing Danshoku Dino vs Shuji Ishikawa KO-D Title match and use that as a jumping off point to discuss the effectiveness of comedy in wrestling. Finally...

Re: Burning Spirits #3: All Japan Pro Wrestling

Great stuff guys, absolutely great. Miles ahead from Ep. 1. Awesome thanks, that's good to hear! My only major complaint is that you mixed up how Kento won the belt (it wasn't a tournament. Kento was just slotted in against Zeus, who was #1 contender because he had beef with Suwama from the tag lea...

Re: Burning Spirits #3: All Japan Pro Wrestling

Not a lot of significance in this particular match other than its insane and disorienting. Aoyagi was a karate instructor who used to book worked matches with wrestlers and bring his students to watch under the assumption that they were legitimate contests. So is this a work? The grappler destroys ...

Re: Burning Spirits #2: Big Japan Pro Wrestling Saikyou Tag League

That was certainly a quick turnaround! Big Japan you say...? :D Ooh, you've got opening music and the VOW intro now. Nice. Ken's audio seems slightly off, maybe an echo of sorts on his mic? Sweet, proper explanations into BJW for the uninitiated. I expect some people to give you shit on saying the ...

Re: Burning Spirits #1: DDT Pro-Wrestling

This is really great feedback everyone, thanks a lot. We're definitely working on the energy level of the show and for future episodes were going to make a more concerted effort to provide some background where it's needed. We should be releasing another episode fairly soon and we're hoping to have ...

I've got this on a dvd but I can't remember if it's a handheld or not. I'm actually not sure if this show was filmed for tv or not. I'll have to check when I get home.

Re: VOW Flagship: NJPW Destruction, WWE Cruiserweight Debuts & more!

Loved the show as always. Despite living in Tokyo and being a native Japanese speaker, VOW serves as my main source of Japanese wrestling information. Though a significant part of the entertainment I get out of your Flagship is the struggle you have pronouncing Japanese names and words, and despite...

Re: WCW Thread

I've just started a Nitro marathon and I was wondering if there were any fans that could help me out with their perspective here? I didn't start watching wrestling until 2003 but I always heard that Hulkamania was dead around the mid-90's. I watched the Halloween Havoc '95 go home show and I was st...

Yeah I really enjoyed that match. Suwama looked the best he's looked since returning. A lot more energy, he was moving around better, really vicious throat work.

Re: King's Road - The All Japan Thread

I loved that Nagai/Sato match. It felt like a tv title match from an episode of WCW.

Shaky logic there for sure, but at least that's an explanation.
