They will give him a chance alright but from what I've heard Dave say and write about him he's one of the smartest guys of the roster. He's got to know the negatives of working in TNA.

Could've said that about Drew McIntyre as well as Trent Baretta.
The reality of Cody versus those two is we never saw either Drew or Trent pushed to limits of their potential. I believe we have seen Cody's best and have a large enough sample size to make such a claim.

The thing is, from purely a financial and long term stability standard, this was the least intelligent decision he could make. This is an ego driven decision and I don't mean that in a negative way. He believes he is better than the ceiling they gave him. Even if it is a smaller pond, being the big fish in a TNA may be more appealing to him.

Galloway didn't just waltz into Reseda after getting cut. He made himself into an established guy on the indies for over a year before he worked a PWG show. And Trent pretty much struck gold with the Best Friends gimmick out of a random BOLA six man tag. He was just kind of a generic ex-WWE guy before that, and being associated with Chuck Taylor went a long way to help him get over. Other guys who came right to PWG after being cut like Sydal, Hero, Cabana, and London were already established indie/PWG guys who fans knew were better than their WWE pushes. If Cody Rhodes is working elsewhere and gets a gimmick over that sheds the Stardust stigma like Galloway shed 3MB, then who knows.

I also don't really see working TNA as that much of a negative for a guy like Cody Rhodes. Get paid, get on TV, probably get a decent push as an ex-WWE guy. We're not talking about Ricochet or the Young Bucks here.

I think Cody's best fit, all things considered, is TNA.

Cody's best fit was WWE. Since he's done there, second best option is TNA, but if that is your best fit, might be best to look elsewhere.

I don't mean that as shitting on TNA, but all their top guys who are worth much, save EC3, have TNA as a part time gig and good reps elsewhere.

I can't help but notice how many people didn't get cut yesterday.

Almost as if the rumours were just.....rumours.
