Fair to say the Martin/Coughlin debacle was F4W’s version of Starrcade ‘97?

Absolutely spot on. All downhill afterwards. Since then: Todd, Coughlin, Sawyer and Copp, Storm, Alan. All gone, either replaced with inferior quality or not replaced at all. That's a big breadth of knowledge and specialisms they've let slip through their fingers.

2. A guy says he has proof Reigns was a client. Dave even in the latest observer says "if this is even a legitimate story" I dont see the issue here, is he not supposed to cover it?

I've been a patreon for John and Wai, and while I do enjoy some of the content, I'm left insanely underwhelmed by Wai. He's so low energy, and most recaps its like John is pulling teeth trying to get Wai engaged. Like shit, I disagree with Alvarez on most WORs in general, but at least they both engaged.

So with a dozen wrestler clients to pick from, Bravo decides to use the one that would make people think that he was grifter who had been lying the whole time? And not any of the ones that wouldn't?

Put aside the Luther Reigns thing and try to go with this logic which we are expected to believe:

1) WWE, going into their biggest show of the year, finds out that there is a rumor that one half of their main event is accused of being a client of a drug dealer. Said wrestler already had one embarrassing wellness failure, but instead of 1) suspending him and investigating or 2) investigating and handling it, they 3) keep Braun out of a match to be an alternate just in case it blows up.

2) Bravo has information, but some two months after revealing it and after a question about the veracity emerges, he does not finally reveal the info.

Martin and others seems to be insinuating that the tickets that are being sold are being gifted to them by promoters and then sold by the site as either an "add on' to their Q&A or for 100% profit to them. I don't know the truth of this but my assumption was that this was not the case and that if the F4W tickets are not sold, they will recirculate them. Maybe there is more here than just using a popular website as an additional means to sell tickets, but I don't see it.

Now, should I 'news' site like F4W do such a thing? Should a journalist like Meltzer also act as a defacto promoter even in a small part? That's a different question. I know many decry the Rosenbergs and Roberts of the world for being coopted by WWE. Not sure how much Dave and Bryan criticize that, but if they do, this would seem rather hypocritical.
