There have been a lot of great shows, but this award was a lock four days in.

Wrestle Kingdom 9

Yeah WK9 is among my picks too, even though I need to jot them all down and list. I think it was mainstream enough where most voters will have watched it.

Wrestle Kingdom 9 is a no brainer this year. It might be the greatest wrestling show of all-time.

This might be a case of riding the post-show highs but after seeing Gate of Destiny I thought it was definitely my show of the year, loved every second of it.

I think I was the lowest on Nakamura/Ibushi out of like anyone in the world, but one of the highest on Goto/Nakamura from Dominion which I thought was better than AJ/Okada. So I'd consider Dominion as well, with it's three ****3/4 matches (Shibata/Saku, Goto/Nak, Okada/AJ) and the divisive Omega/Kushida match which I liked,

I'm going to give this serious thought because it's one of the most important awards IMO but it's hard to argue with WK9. There was nothing truly bad (one of my pre-reqs) but two of perhaps the best matches of the year. That's a tough hill for any other show to climb.

I'm going to have a hard time leaving NOAH 9/19 off of my top three. God, I loved that show.

A lot of the NXT shows leave you real high but then don't look as good with hindsight. But not Respect. That show ruled, and might deserve a top three spot for the crowd alone.

Will have Scenic City Invitational Night Two on my list somewhere. It held up on tape after seeing it live, and paid off on so much of what they established on Night One. Every match on the show was different, a nice mix of guys I really like, an incredibly fun angle (though the angle wasn't shown in full on the VOD/DVD), no bad matches, three great matches, with several other good ones, et.

Shows like FIP Fallout Night One, and King of the Indies Night Two had a lot of things I like on shows (variety in match styles and talent, nothing bad, good flow to the shows, guys overperforming, et.) but I won't include both. Maybe one.

Empire Wrestling Entertainment's Crazy From The Heat was a great show, with an "eh" main event that MIGHT play it out of my top three, but it would be in my top ten.

That ROH Winter Warriors Atlanta show was really fucking great. I have a hard time seeing how I could leave it out of the top three.

This will probably shock some people here, but I loved Invasion Attack at the time, and would at least consider it for a top three. It would definitely be in my top ten. Would consider the last two Takeover specials and Mania as well.

So yeah...my top three will be the ROH Winter Warriors show from Atl, SCI Night 2, and something else. Not sure what.

Forgot this was the Observer year. Takeover: R Evolution is definitely my #2. I thought that was pretty much a perfect 2 hours and was my favorite NXT special.

Wish I could vote BOLA as a whole...it's the EVENT of the year.

While i think Wrestle Kingdom is an absolute lock, i'm still undecided on the rest of my top 3.

I think i'm going with NXT Takeover: [R]Evolution for #2 on my list. That was also a top to bottom great night, capped off by the greatest feel good moment I've seen in years. That show was incredible.

For #3 i'm undecided. Dominion was great, and i'm also considering the 9/19 NOAH show and the ROH show from Atlanta. Ultima Lucha was fun as well. There are probably others as well that i've forgotten, but those are the best off the top of my head.

If you consider only the main show and ignore the TV matches, Takeover Brooklyn had a historic match (Liger's first and possibly only WWE appearance), a good tag match, the debut of a future star in Crewes, a good match between Joe and Corbin and two great matches to cap it off.

But...I think you have to include the TV matches and that kills the show.

Wrestle Kingdom has 4 matches that I thought were 4 stars or better; 1 match in my top 5 and another in my top 20. The rest of the show was good and the only suspect thing (the pre-show Rumble) was a 'dark' match. Nothing has come close to that.

Ultima Lucha. 5 matches that I had at ****+. Couple that with the overall special aura that exuded from the event, and you have my Show of the Year. The most fun I've had watching wrestling all year.
