I think it just topped Kamaitachi/Maximo as my MOTY.

I said this on Twitter, but Cavernario is really good at working these back-and-forth, spot-centric matches in a way where it doesn't feel cheap. Compare that with, say, Volador/Sombra or Cena/Owens matches where I always get the sense that they're just taking turns to get their shit in. I think it's all about making the transitions in control feel significant and knowing when to play to the crowd and let the moment sink in before you move on to the next spot, which Cavernario is really good at, especially for such a young guy.

I think Ultimo Guerrero vs. Cibernetico from Friday was great match until dirty closing stretch shenanigans happened. It showed Cibernetico can go in big-match situations via all the brawling shortcuts, and eventual apuesta match with UG, Rush or Caristico could deliver if they drop silly booking.

Elite is doing a 12 person round robin tournament scheduled to go 33 weeks and the winner becomes their first champion. While as I understand it the bottom 4 face off and the loser of that match loses his hair or mask. The lineup is quite stacked though the inclusion of Bobby Lashley is odd.
Lineup: Mistico, Carístico, Rush, La Máscara, Volador jr, Mascara Dorada, Atlantis, Ultimo Guerrero, Bobby Lashley, Xtreme Tiger, Juventud Guerrera, Cibernetico
I'd give this about a 5% chance of being successful. Wrestling in general does not have a great track record with tournaments in general but this being Mexico and with the egos involved I expect at least one of these guys to jump ship before this is over. Booking this is going to be an absolute nightmare and not to mention that the bottom guy will have to lose his mask or hair, which means either Lashley or Juvi loses their hair, as I can not see any of these guys losing their masks in this and Volador jr isn't going to be the bottom guy in this.

On the night that Shinsuke Nakamura faced the former El Generico in a WWE ring, it's fitting that ELITE's show Lucha Azteca had Rush vs Bobby Lashley. I saw someone say this matchup would only come up if you had the Fire Pro Randomizer on but here we are.

I will have to watch the whole show again cause I had a stream to the channel freeze up for most of the show but it looked fun and very different from regular CMLL programming in terms of production and the energy.

I'm also interested to see what other foreigners they bring in since they got Lashley so quick after Brian Cage backed out.

Rush/Atlantis
Rush/Mistico
Rush/Dorada
Atlantis/Mistico
Caristico/Mistico

CMLL is crazy to give all these matches to ELITE. I hope the lease money is good for CMLL, otherwise this makes no sense.

That is the other thing about this that is baffling to me. You could main event the aniversario show with any of these matches and now they are just going to happen on random shows. Not to forget that Volador jr vs Rush for the hair is most likely the main event of the aniversario this year and now they are going to have another random singles match. The only way that makes sense if they use it to set up the Aniversario match.

Looking forward to Rush vs. Marco on Friday. Semi-main looks kind of sick, Gran Guerrero works great with small flyers.

Liked tonight's show a lot. Semi main was so much fun tonight. I don't know what has gotten in to Mistico, but he's been spectacular this year. The shining star in every match he's in. Marco vs Rush was good stuff too. Didn't end how I expected, but I loved Marco's fire. Oro vs Masacara was really good too. Mascara kicking Dragon Lee after the match, but Rush stepping in was certainly interesting.

EDIT: Forgot to add how great Caristico vs Volador Jr from the Elite show was. My god Volador was an excellent rudo and the action was top notch.

I'm not a big fan of the Volador Match but I have to admit it was entertaining. Volador is better as a rudo. Caristico has been hitting some crazy shit these past few weeks too.

I missed the CMLL show but I heard it was very good. Again, CMLL has been so good this year.

Marco/Rush was good, but it was only half a match, it seems they're building towards Hair vs. Hair for the next big event (June/July?). Intensity was great. A proper apuesta clash between the two could be a terrific MOTYC brawl.

I hope Park returning to Elite means he's returning to CMLL as well. He needs to resume the feud with Rush. Rush/Park for Aniversario pls! But there's literally 10% chance (at best) Park stays in Elite/CMLL that long.

Caristico/Volador was nuts. Exchanging bombs, classic Mistico highspots & a great intensity. I wish they had mic'ed the crowd better because I saw the handheld version too and it was way louder than it came off on TV. Easy MOTYC for me.

I keep waiting for the shoe to drop with CMLL. Thought it'd come first after H2L when they'd give up but the Gran Alternativa kept the Tuesday shows fresh & the Friday shows have kept up nicely. Now it's tournament time & Thunder is back so maybe this is where we see the comedown?

Last night's show was awesome. The only match that was below average was the title match and even that was noteworthy and not offensive, just dull. The 3rd match was completely batshit insane in terms of crazy spots which I thought would end up happening in the semi-main. The semi-main was just really crisp flying and great crowd reactions to all of it. Rush/Marco was a nice tease of what may be likely to come with a hair match. I wonder if they'll rush it (ha) and do it in May as some sort of celebration of Marco's 10th Anniversary in Mexico (he started on May 12, 2006).

CMLL being great this year has really kept me from getting bummed out since my favorite company (AAA) has me completely disinterested. Last thing I need is the two main companies in Mexico shitting the bed. ELITE is a nice bonus. Their first two TV shows were both great.

The incredible partners tournament final will be on the Arena Mexico Anniversary Show on 4/29 so interesting to see what they come up with as the main event. Kind of limits it to only a few teams who have main event status, sorry Blue Panther/Efesto. Mistico/Mephisto & Marco/Rush would be heavy favorites this coming Friday but I can't see Marco/Rush surviving 3 matches as friends. Mistico/Mephisto moving on to face Dragon Lee/La Mascara or Caristico/Cibernetico works. Especially the latter case where you can get an issue out of it between Mistico/Caristico against the Hell Brothers Reloaded.

I fell asleep watching the Claro feed and missed Elite last night. However, there's a YT channel that posts the Lucha Azteca 7 shows the morning after. Elite was a damn good show besides the finish of the La Park vs Cibernetico match. OG Parka tried and tried and tried to get a great match out of Cibernetico but it couldn't happen.

I thought Ultimo Guerrero vs Xtreme Tiger was really good. I think I liked it way more than Caristico vs Volador Jr.
