Kenny Omega

Was there from 2008/2010. Might not maybe the top 50, but he made his presence known.

Hmm. I do recall Kenny having some really good matches with Davey, I believe. And I recall him being in a 4 Way World Title match with McGuinness as champion that I really enjoyed. I would probably have him high 40's though. Really not enough to justify anything above 40.

Gotta represent a fellow gamer, though most of his work, especially lately, speaks for itself. Mark my words in 6 months, baring injury or family emergency, his matches will make their mark on RoH's landscape as some of the best of all time.

The only 4-way title match I found was against Aries in 2009 - which looked interesting as Kenny went on a run after leading up to The Omega Factor show and his 1-on-1 title match in Canada.

He is a total ROH blind spot for me with his 2008-2010 run. Would be interested in any other recommendations.

Right now when I measure things out, i'm not sure he'll have enough cache to make it.

I haven't revisited any of his older stuff in years, but there were at least a few matches I remember being good? A match with Davey that was basically an ROH version of their great PWG match that ROH thought enough of to call the show "Epic Encounter III," a title match with Aries at "The Omega Effect," and a match with Hero for their TV title tournament that I thought was good good live but never saw on tape.

They were turning him into a bit of a special attraction, bouncing off of his PWG hype at the time, but then he disappeared.

Of all of the high profile places he's worked, he made the least amount of impact here. When I think Kenny I think DDT, NJPW, PWG, AJPW before ROH, which is funny because I'd be willing to bet he has more career ROH matches than AJPW or PWG. I always associate him with his HDNet era stuff which always felt out of place, even though Pearce was trying his hardest to move the company away from SUPER SERIOUS WORKRATE stuff at the time.

Not enough quality body of work yet; he'll need his Visa issue cleared soon to get more on his ROH resume.

He was pretty terrible for most of his ROH run.... crazy considering how great he's done in all of his other spots.

He was hugely over in the HDnet era the live crowds were begging for him to get the title from Aries one such event I recall was A double drawing names out of a hat to get a title shot and Kenny was pulled but "not in the building" the crowd went nuts. Also remember in that time he was a really good TV match with Hero. Before that he had a fun but sporadic run that included two different three-ways that also included Brayn Danielson that I had just recently rewatched before this project started that were both worked really well and I recommend. I like Kenny Omeaga a lot for a lot of different reasons but his ROH run isn't really one of the biggest ones even if I probably enjoyed the HDnet ROH more than most.

The Epic Encounter match with Davey is a disaster. Their shorter matches in the company might be more fun though.

First Omega in ROH watching for me - I watched the Omega/Aries title match from The Omega Effect and thought it was perfectly fine. It's odd seeing him in this plucky babyface role (Aries to his credit was damn good), and while nothing really sticks out besides Omega doing a tope con hilo to the cement, it was a good main event (also the Hadouken mid-match, come on man). The guy is talented and a good wrestler here, even if not memorable.

More to review on Kenny.

The Hadouken spots were so cringey at that time.

that stuff was over with me, still would be if he did it. Mainly because it always looked like he DRILLED people with that thing. Would love to see Okada get blasted with on during the finishing stretch at The Dome.

See, if he did it now I'd enjoy it because he's so much more comfortable with it and it would fit with his persona. FOr whatever reason, it fell as flat as humanly possible when he did it back in his ROH days. Mind you, I'm a gigantic nerd so that should be super over with me. He just lacked any of the confidence that's become so synonymous with him these days.

It's noted earlier about his visa issues and how it could affect his ranking - and in watching his entrance at the 14th anniversary show today (and I liked the TV match he had with ACH also), man it is a shame that happened for our purposes here.
